Player-Owned Infrastructure

Most Infrastructure is built by nations, but some structures can be built and owned by individual players. You start the project, buy its materials, pay the workers, and keep the finished structure for yourself.

The Warehouse is the first structure players can own. More are planned.

Starting a project

Go to [your name] → My Infrastructure, choose a structure and a region, and click Start Project.

  • You can build in any region held by a nation. It doesn't have to be your own nation, or the region you live in.

  • Starting a project costs VBX from your own wallet (see each structure's page).

  • You can only have one of each structure per region, counting both projects and finished structures.

  • You can abandon a project at any time. The VBX and any materials already on site are lost.

Construction materials

Player projects don't use any nation's stockpile. Each project has its own materials on site, which you buy from the market of the nation that holds the region:

  • Click Buy next to a material on My Infrastructure to see the offers in that market.

  • You pay with your personal cash in that nation's currency, including the usual sales tax (and import/export taxes for foreign sellers).

  • The materials go straight to the construction site.

Materials are used up the same way as for national projects: each point of productivity uses one unit of material in total, split evenly across the materials the structure needs. My Infrastructure shows how much of each material is on site and how much is still needed. If any material runs out, nobody can work on the project until you buy more.

Wages

You can set a wage per contribution for each project (and a wage per repair for each finished structure). It's paid from your personal cash, in the currency of the nation holding the region.

  • The worker is paid the wage minus that nation's income tax, which goes to the nation.

  • If you can't afford the wage when someone tries to work, they can't contribute until you can.

  • You never pay yourself: working on your own project is free.

  • With a wage of 0, players can still volunteer, but NPCs won't help.

Building

Players

Player projects are listed under Private Construction on Economics → Infrastructure, along with each owner and wage. The list covers every region of the nation you're currently in. Click Contribute to work on one. Building works the same as for national projects:

  • Costs 25 AP, and you need at least 10 Happiness

  • Gives you Building skill and 1 XP, and costs 1 Happiness

  • Requires you to be in the project's region, or to own a vehicle (Q1 or Q2) and use 1 fuel to drive there

  • Uses the same productivity formula, including the Engineering bonus from the University

Unlike national projects, you don't gain patriotism, but you do get the owner's wage.

NPCs

NPCs will help with player projects in their region, but only when:

  • the wage is at least the minimum wage of the nation holding the region,

  • the owner can afford to pay it, and the materials are on site, and

  • there's no national infrastructure for them to build or repair that turn.

NPCs pick the best-paid job available in their region.

When the last productivity point goes in, the structure is completed at 100% integrity, and you get an alert. Any leftover materials stay with the structure and can be used for repairs, and the wage carries over as its repair wage.

Repairs

Player-owned structures are damaged by battles and collapse at 0% integrity, just like national ones. When one collapses, everything stored in it is lost too.

Damaged player structures are listed under Private Construction with a Repair button. Repairs cost up to 15 AP, follow the same rules as building, and use materials from the structure's own stock. To restock it, use the Buy buttons under Repairs on My Infrastructure. NPCs repair player structures under the same wage rules as building.

Ownership

  • A player-owned structure belongs to you, not to any nation. It stays yours if the region changes hands.

  • Wages and material purchases are always in the currency of the nation currently holding the region.

  • Player structures count towards the region's Appeal like any other structure, and appear on the region's page with your name.
